5 Things From the Target Kids’ Section Your Adult Apartment Needs

You already know that the Target home section is a fantastic place to buy pretty much anything you might need – and a few things you might just want – for your home, especially when you’re just starting out. But, have you ever found yourself wandering into the kids’ home section and thinking about how cute that unicorn lamp would look on your side table, or how that embroidered throw pillow would really pull your living room together? We do, pretty much every time we shop there.

In fact, during some recent spring cleaning, Kelsey and I decided that we desperately needed a new shower curtain – after about a year and a half and several at-home hair color sessions, our existing one was looking a little stained and grungy. So we ran over to Target to pick up a new one. After we looked through the options, our hands-down favorite was the Floral Festival Shower Curtain from the Target kids’ home goods line, Pillowfort.

The floral pattern is adorable, and it went perfectly with the coral and grey bathroom accessories we already owned! It really helped to pretty up our standard-apartment-off-white bathroom.

Target launched the Pillowfort line of kids’ home goods in 2016, and according to Fortune, its a line that’s designed to be largely gender-neutral, in an effort to step away from products that are traditionally thought of as “for boys” (sports, rocket ships, etc.) or “for girls” (princesses, ponies, etc.). That’s something we can totally get behind. We pulled together a few of our favorite pieces for you to take a look at.

Tassels are in right now (or, so I’m told). And how cute are the little pops of color on these curtains?

Circle Shelf – PillowfortTM | Target, $29.99

If you’re living in a storage-challenged apartment like we are, you know exactly how important shelving is. This shelf is a great option to give you a little extra space and also add some interest to your walls.

Decorative Basket Pillowfort Khaki – PillowfortTM | Target, $29.99

Maybe I’m crazy, but this basket looks like something you’d find at Anthropologie (for triple the price).

Pineapple Table Lamp – PillowfortTM  | Target, $29.99

Kelsey actually owns this pineapple lamp! She has it on her desk at work, which is entirely pineapple themed.

Colorful Triangles Throw Pillow – PillowfortTM | Target, $16.99

Is this embroidered throw pillow not the perfect boho accent? I told you tassels were in!

Do you shop in the Target kids’ section for your “grown-up” apartment? How do you feel about this move toward gender-neutral kids’ products? Have we given you a whole new reason to spend money at Target? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
